Welcome to the first episode of our United Church of Tonga Youth Daily Devotion for 2025. Today, we embark on a spiritual journey with a reading from Psalm 34, focusing on verse 8. As the new year begins, many of us set resolutions and strive for positive change, whether it's starting new diets, setting goals, or altering our outlooks on life.
The devotion reflects on the psalm written by David after his miraculous escape from Abimelech, as recounted in 1 Samuel 21:10-15. Feeling trapped and fearing for his life, David acted as though he were insane to secure his safety. In his desperation, he cried out to God, who delivered him. This experience led David to recognize God's goodness and urged others to 'taste and see that the Lord is good.'
David's message is a reminder to cultivate our relationship with God, regardless of age, and to experience His love and grace. As we enter 2025, let us commit ourselves to a deeper spiritual connection and to exploring the divine goodness in our lives.
